MISCOUCHE – Avid community volunteer Clifford Poirier was recently named this year’s recipient of the Eddie Laughlin Memorial Person Award.

The presentation was made at the annual church picnic at St. John the Baptist Church in Miscouche.

For the past six years Poirier has served on the parish fundraising committee, helping to raise money for the church renovation fund. Poirier also gets his hands dirty, washing windows at the church, installing ceiling lights and helping with various cleaning projects.

Besides volunteering in his home community, he lends a hand at Credit Union Place, Harbourfront Theatre, Prince County Hospital Garden, the Prince County Relay for Life, Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club, with the P.E.I. Curling Association and at various softball and baseball events.
