Calgary’s Crystal Webster rink, which includes PEI natives Erin Carmody and Geri-Lynn Ramsay, along with Winnipeg’s Chelsea Carey foursome remain undefeated, and have qualified on the “A” side of the triple knockout draw for Sunday’s championship round at the $26,000 “The Shootout” cashspiel in Edmonton.
Carey advanced after a 7-3 Friday night win over fellow Winnipeger Jennifer Jones, while Webster beat home-town favourite Heather Nedohin 6-4 to punch her ticket to the money round. Webster’s previous wins were over 6-5 over Brett Barber of Regina, 9-1 over Valerie Sweeting of Edmonton, and 5-4 over Jessie Kaufman, also from Edmonton.
Quarter-finals go Sunday at 11 am PEI time, with the semis at 2:30 pm, and the final at 6 pm Atlantic. The winning team will go home with $5000, with $3000 for the runner-up, $2000 for 3rd and 4th place, and $1500 for the remaining qualifiers.
32 women’s teams are entered, while the round-robin men’s event features 20 teams.
