Sportsnet announces locations (including Summerside) and dates for 3 Grand Slam events next season

TORONTO – The Masters will kick off the 2013-14 Grand Slam of Curling series beginning Oct. 30 in Abbotsford, B.C., Sportsnet announced Thursday.

Sportsnet also confirmed the event details for the Canadian Open and Players’ Championship. Details on The National, the fourth Grand Slam of Curling event, will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Masters will run Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 and feature 30 men’s and women’s teams competing for a combined purse of $200,000.

From Nov. 13 to 17, Medicine Hat, Alta., will host the Canadian Open, which will include 18 men’s teams competing for a $100,000 purse.

The Players’ Championship, the final event of the 2013-14 Grand Slam of Curling series, will take place in Summerside, P.E.I., from April 15 to 20, with 30 men’s and women’s teams competing for a combined purse of $200,000.

Below are the details of the confirmed 2013-14 Grand Slam of Curling series events:

Masters  

Date: Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, 2013
Location: Abbotsford, B.C. (Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre)
Draw: Men’s and women’s draws
Purse: $200,000 ($100,000 split)

Canadian Open

Date: Nov. 13 – 17, 2013
Location: Medicine Hat, Alta. (Medicine Hat Arena)
Draw: Men’s draw only
Purse: $100,000

Players’ Championship

Date: April 15 – 20, 2014
Location: Summerside, P.E.I.  (Credit Union Place)
Draw: Men’s and women’s draws
Purse: $200,000 ($100,000 split)
