Casey, along with teammates Josh Barry, Summerside native Anson Carmody and Robbie Doherty, has qualified for its first Grand Slam event of the 2014-15 season while cracking the top-10 rankings in Canada. The National runs from Nov. 19 to 23 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. [Update: Team Casey has now announced that they have also been invited to compete in their second Grand Slam competition, the Canadian Open in Yorkton Saskatchewan, from Dec. 9-14.]

“We are very happy with how we have progressed this year,” said Casey, who is skipping the first-year rink. “We got off to a slow start, but for the most part we have been doing the right things and tracking in the right direction.

“Obviously, getting into the (Grand) Slams was one of our major goals, and getting in the top 10 is a bonus. We hope to keep building on it.”

The Casey rink is ranked ninth in the latest Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) standings.
