MacDonald will become second vice-chairman and first vice-chairman before taking over the reigns of the national organization as chairman in October 2018.

This is the first time in CADA’s 73-year history that a P.E.I. automobile dealer has been named to its executive.

“I am delighted to become an important contributor to this national board, taking a more active role,’’ MacDonald said in a news release. “The automobile industry is vibrant and growing, and I am excited to be a key player involved with an organization like CADA that is so revered by those directly and indirectly involved in the automobile world.’’

MacDonald’s previous roles include serving as president of the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce, division chairman of the United Way, director of the Summerside Curling Club and the Charlottetown Curling Club, director, secretary-treasurer and auditor of the P.E.I. Curling Association and division chairman of numerous national and provincial curling championships.
