Birt and O’Rourke open PEI Scotties with wins (Journal)

SUMMERSIDE – Two Summerside natives are off to a winning start in the four-team Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship.

Suzanne Birt skipped her Charlottetown Curling Complex rink to a 9-5 victory over clubmate Kim Dolan in one of two opening draws at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club on Friday afternoon. The Kathy O’Rourke rink, also from the Charlottetown Curling Complex, defeated Lisa Jackson’s team out of the Cornwall Curling Club by a 6-2 score.https://i0.wp.com/www.journalpioneer.com/media/photos/unis/2015/01/23/photo_2797854/article_large.jpg?w=1366

Birt and O’Rourke will meet in the A section final on Friday at 7 p.m. Dolan will take on Jackson at the same time.
