Suzanne Birt and her Charlottetown Curling Complex rink won the B section of the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside on Saturday afternoon.

With O’Rourke defeating Birt 11-9 in the A section final on Friday night, it guarantees Monday’s championship round will be required as there will be at least two teams advancing from the modified triple-knockout round.

Dolan stays alive

Meanwhile, defending-champion Kim Dolan (2-2), also from the Charlottetown Curling Complex, remained alive in the C event, eliminating Cornwall’s Lisa Jackson rink (0-3) by an 8-7 score. Jackson attempted a tricky double raise and roll the shooter with her final shot to stay alive, but couldn’t pull it off.

Future Scotties

The second of two rounds has been played at the eight-end Future Scotties’ round-robin developmental event, with the young Sierra Clyke team from Crapaud and the Silver Fox pulling out an 8-7 win over Cornwall’s Kristie Rogers foursome. Clyke scored four in the eighth end to tie the game, and then stole a single point in the extra end.

The other afternoon game had Cornwall’s Lauren Lenentine steal the seventh and eighth ends for a 7-4 victory over Lauren Moerike and her Charlottetown team.
