Four teams unbeaten after Travelers Curling Club Ch’ship Opening day

Three draws are in the books after opening day action at the provincial Travelers Curling Club Championship at the Crapaud Community Curling Club.

In the men’s division, with representatives from all seven PEI dedicated curling facilities, the Alan Inman foursome from the host club and the John Desrosiers rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex are 2-0, while the Barry Cameron team from the Silver Fox, the Freddy Fraser team from the Western Community club in Alberton, and the Donald Clarey team from Montague all have a 1-1 win-loss record. Cornwall’s Angus Kennedy squad and the Andy Morris rink from the Maple Leaf club in O’Leary are 0-2.

In the five team women’s event, Western’s Iva Griffin is 2-0, while Cornwall’s Lisa Jackson is 1-0. The other three teams, from Montague (Lynne Anne Brousseau), Crapaud (Vanessa Hamming), and the Silver Fox (Kim Aylward), are 0-1.

Round robin play continues Saturday and Sunday, with draws at 11 am and 3 and 7 pm both days, The championship round goes Monday with the second and third place teams from the round robin squaring off at 11 am. The winner will face the first place team from the round robin at 3 pm. In the event that a team goes through the round robin undefeated, and then loses the 3 pm game, an extra game will take place between the two finalists, at 7 pm.

Winning teams will advance to the national Travelers Curling Club Championship, November 23-28, 2015 at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club, in Ottawa Ontario.
