The Crapaud Curling Club will open for the season, one week late.

The club was facing closure this week after a key piece of equipment that keeps the ice surface cold broke as the club was putting in the ice for a new season.

The repair bill came to $3,000, which was too steep for the cash-strapped club.

The club members launched a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $1,800. Then late Friday, the board received a surprise additional donation of $1,500 from South Shore Pharmacy.
