PEI’s Birt rink 0-2, Casey foursome 0-1 at Grand Slam of Curling’s Tour Challenge (Journal)

PARADISE, N.L. – It was not the start the Suzanne Birt rink was looking for here at the Grand Slam of Curling’s Tour Challenge.

The newly-formed Birt rink, which includes third stone Robyn Green, second stone Meaghan Hughes and lead Marie Christianson, dropped its first two games – 6-4 to Sylvie Robichaud of Moncton, N.B., on Tuesday night, and 5-4 to Cathy Overton-Clapham of Manitoba on Wednesday – in the Tier 2 Division.

Team Birt will face Manitoba’s Michelle Montford on Thursday.

Casey

P.E.I.’s Adam Casey rink is competing in the men’s Tier 1 Division. Casey, third stone David Mathers, second stone Anson Carmody and lead Robbie Doherty lost their first game against Manitoba’s Reid Carruthers 5-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Casey rink plays Scotland’s David Murdoch on Thursday afternoon.
