The Wolfville Curling Center and Glooscap Curling Club have been chosen to be the co-hosts of the 2016 men’s and women’s Canadian Masters Curling Championships, which take place April 4 to 10, 2016. The Canadian Masters Curling Committee expects that all provinces and territories will be in attendance, with the exception of Nunavut.

Unlike other Canadian curling championships, there is no funding from the provincial associations or Curling Canada for Master Championships, so the host committee is on their own to raise the funds needed, and are looking for corporate sponsors and fundraising activities to help make it happen.

Arrangements are being made with Bell Aliant Community One to livestream at least one game per draw from each of the two clubs, which will mark the first time that this event will be livestreamed.

The event website 2016masterscurling.ca and Facebook Page are online already, and will be updated with more information as the event approaches. Follow them on Twitter @masterscurling.

The national Canadian Masters website is http://www.eteamz.com/canadianmasters/.

Defending Canadian champs are the Ron Westcott rink from Manitoba, and the Karen Lepine squad from BC.

The PEI Masters champs, who are eligible to compete in this event, will be determined January 22-26 at the Crapaud Curling Club. Defending provincial champs are the Mel Bernard rink from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, and the Shirley Berry foursome from the Cornwall and Charlottetown clubs.
