The Brad Gushue rink from St. John’s, which includes PEI native Brett Gallant at second stone, went undefeated this weekend to win the men’s division of the Dave Jones Mayflower cashspiel in Halifax, edging the Swiss Sven Michel rink 4-3 in the final. PEI’s John Likely rink made it to the quarter-finals, losing to Michel.

The Jill Brothers foursome from Halifax won the women’s final, scoring four points in the final end of a 9-5 victory over Theresa Breen. PEI’s Suzanne Birt team lost to Breen in the semi-finals.

The other PEI skips entered were Adam Casey,  who had a 2-3 win-loss record in the triple knockout round, along with Kim Dolan and Shelly Bradley, who both finished round robin play at 1-3.
