Dolan and Birt to meet again, in Scotties B final at 7 pm

Ten time PEI women’s champion Kim Dolan will get another chance, at 7 this evening, to qualify for the championship round at the PEI Scotties in Montague, when she again takes on defending champ Suzanne Birt.

If Birt, who won the “A” section this morning, also wins tonight’s “B” final, she will have a “double life” in Monday’s championship round, as she will repeat as Scotties champ if she wins either game, while her opponent would have to win both. Dolan qualifies for tonight’s B final with an 8-3 win over Lisa Jackson, while Birt beat Sarah Fullerton 9-3 to advance.

Two teams will suffer their third loss and be eliminated tonight in the modified triple knockout competition, as Shelly Bradley takes on Fullerton, and hometown favourite Tammy Dewar faces Lisa Jackson.

There’s only one game tonight in the Future Scotties developmental event, as Cornwall’s Emma Coffin and Alexis Burris rinks face off. Burris picked up a 5-3 win over Lauren Ferguson and her combined Western/Crapaud/Silver Fox rink this afternoon, while Coffin lost a close 9-8 decision to clubmate Rachel MacLean.
