Competition Dev’t Course (replaces Level 3). needed to coach major competions, offered in Truro

curlingcanadaHello coaches, Curling Canada will be offering a Competition Development Course at the Truro Curling Club in Nova Scotia from February 27 – March 1, 2016.  This will provide all our coaches with the opportunity to get their Comp. Dev. certification in time for the Nov. 2017 deadline for coaches to be eligible to coach at the 2017 Olympic Trials and the 2018 Scotties and Brier.  This course replaces the old Level 3 and will only be offered in the Atlantic region every few years, otherwise coaches will need to travel outside of our region to attend a course.  Please see the required prerequisites.

If you were certified in the old system and were fully certified in Level 3, then you should have already been transferred through The Locker and it will show that you are Competition Development certified (once you successfully complete the Make Ethical Decisions online module).  If you were not fully certified in the old level 3, then you will need to follow this new course to coach at the 2018 Scotties, Brier or 2017 Olympic Trials.  If you have any specific NCCP questions, please email Amy Duncan at [email protected].

Certification for the Canada Winter Games is Competition Coach (old Level 2, also known as Competition Introduction) with a Canada Games specific module so you will not be required to be Comp. Dev. certified for the 2019 Canada Winter Games.  Certification for many other provincial and national events is Competition Coach and Curl PEI offers many Competition Coach Courses throughout the season so if you require this certification, please check with Amy.

Please see the attached registration form and information for the Competition Development Course.  If you have any questions regarding the course in February, please contact Amy or send an email to Jennifer Ferris at [email protected].
