Triple gives Fullerton win, MacLean drops close one at Cdn. Jrs. (Journal)

STRATFORD, Ont. – The Katie Fullerton rink had a strong finish in Thursday afternoon’s draw at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships.

Fullerton scored a three-ender in the final end to give the Prince Edward Island women a 6-5 win over the Sadie Pinksen team from Nunavut.

The win boosted P.E.I.’s record to 4-4 (won-lost), and Nunavut fell to 1-7.

The P.E.I. men didn’t fare so well as Greg Smith and his Newfoundland and Labrador rink stole a deuce in the ninth and a single in the 10th for a 9-8 victory over the Matthew MacLean rink from O’Leary and Cornwall. MacLean fell to 3-5.

The P.E.I. rinks complete their seeding-round games on Friday at 11 a.m. (Atlantic). The men play Nova Scotia (4-4) and the women face Northern Ontario (4-4).
