Schut U16 P.E.I. mixed curling champ, Noye wins U21 event (Journal)

O’LEARY — The Mitchell Schut foursome from the Cornwall Curling Club is the P.E.I. Curling Association’s 2016 Under 16 Mixed Curling Champion.

 The Cornwall team, which also consists of Sydney Howatt, Michael MacEwen, Madelyn Cantwell and coach Nancy Yeo, broke open a 4-4 game against Cornwall clubmate Alexis Burris with five points in the seventh end to bring the championship final Sunday afternoon at the Maple Leaf Curling Club to an early conclusion.

The Under 21 mixed championship was also played in O’Leary on the weekend. It was a best-of-five event between the only two teams entered. The Leslie Noye rink, with team members from Western, Silver Fox and Charlottetown clubs, won in the minimum number of games, downing the Devin Schut Cornwall/Crapaud rink 7-6, 11-2 and 9-1 in Saturday draws.
