PEI men’s and women’s rinks sweep Atlantic Under 18 Curling Championships

It was a PEI sweep at the Atlantic Under 18 Curling Championships, which wrapped up Sunday afternoon at CFB Halifax, with the PEI U18 championship rinks, skipped by Tyler Smith and Lauren Lenentine, capturing both the men’s and women’s divisions.

The Lenentine rink, from the Cornwall Curling Club, doubled the Justine Comeau team from New Brunswick 4-2 in the women’s final. Comeau went undefeated in round robin play, while Lenentine had only one round robin loss, to Comeau.

It was a similar story in the men’s division, with the Smith team, which includes players from Crapaud, Montague, and Summerside’s Silver Fox, edging the New Brunswick team, skipped by Liam Marin, 4-3 in the final. Marin was unbeaten in the round robin, with Smith losing only to Marin.

Other members of the Lauren Lenentine rink are third Kaleigh Mackay, second Breanne Burgoyne, and lead Rachel O’Connor, with coach Pat Quilty. Rounding out the Tyler Smith foursome are third Alex MacFadyen, second Matthew MacDonald, and lead Ryan Lowery, with coach Kevin Smith.
