Hope 1-1, Walsh 0-2 after opening day at Canadian Masters

Two draws are in the books after opening day play at the Canadian Masters Curling Championships, for curlers age 60 and over, being played in the Annapolis Valley.

PEI’s Sandy Hope team, from the Cornwall Curling Club, recovered from a 7-1 loss to Northern Ontario with a 12-0 blanking of the Northwest Territories team. Hope plays BC at 2:30 this afternoon and Manitoba at 7 this evening and wraps up round robin play at 11:30 am Wednesday against NB.

masterswalshMeanwhile, the Louis Walsh squad from the Silver Fox in Summerside are still looking for their first win, following a pair of opening day losses – 8-4 to Northern Ontario, and 8-2 to Nova Scotia’s Steve Ogden. PEI plays NL at 10 am, and NB (Rob Aube) at 7 pm. The Island men conclude round robin play against Alberta (Ed Lukowich) at 2 pm Wednesday, and Quebec at 10 am Thurs.

The event finals are Sunday at 2 pm.
