Reminder: U16 and Mixed entries due today. Remaining Feb. entry deadlines for Curl PEI ch’ship events

Curlers are reminded of the remaining entry deadlines this month for provincial events. All entries must be made online at PEICurling.com.

U16 (Entries due Feb. 10)

The Curl PEI Provincial Under 16 Curling Championships, with boy’s and girl’s divisions for curlers under the age of 16 years, is scheduled for the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton from March 3-5. Entry deadline is Friday, February 10, 2017, and entry fee is $105 per team.

Last year’s champions were the Lauren Lenentine and Mitchell Schut rinks from Cornwall.

Mixed (Entries due Feb. 10)

The Cornwall Curling Club is hosting the 2017 PEI Mixed (Fours) curling championship from March 3-7. Entry deadline is February 10. Entry fee is $190 per team plus $39 per player Curling Canada participant fees. Defending champions are the team of Veronica Smith, Tyler Smith, Sabrina Smith, and Dylan Lowery.

The winning team will advance to the 2018 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, to be played in Manitoba, at the Swan River Curling Club, Nov. 12-18, 2017.

U13 Open (Entries due Feb. 17)
The Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Community Complex in Summerside is the host for the 2017 Provincial Under 13 Open Championship, from March 10-12. The “Open” format means that any combination of girls and/or boys may be on a team. Games in this event are six ends.

Entry deadline is February 17, 2017, and entry fee is $105 per team.

Last year’s champions were the Rachel MacLean rink from the Cornwall Curling Club, who won all seven of their games, stealing the last end to edge their clubmates, the Chase MacMillan team, by a 4-3 score in the final.

Travelers (Entries due Feb. 17)

The provincial Travelers Curling Club Championships, for men’s and women’s teams who have won their club playdowns, will take place March 10-14 at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Entry deadline is February 17, and entry fee is $145 per team. Clubs who have not completed their playdowns by that date may submit a team entry, and add the names later.

The winning provincial teams will advance to the 2017 Travelers Curling Club Championship, to be played Nov. 20-25 at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club in Kingston Ont.
