Team Canada edges PEI in Scotties extra end, MacPhee plays Quebec in lone game Monday (Journal)

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. – A late rally by the Robyn MacPhee rink fell just short on Sunday night.

The P.E.I. representative from the Charlottetown Curling Complex scored three in the 10th end to tie Team Canada’s Chelsea Carey 7-7 in a round-robin game at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. However, Carey, who had the hammer, counted a single point in the extra end to pull out an 8-7 win to improve to 2-1 (won-lost) at the Canadian women’s curling championship.

Team MacPhee (0-3), which is coached by Les Rogers and also includes third stone Sarah Fullerton, second stone Meaghan Hughes, lead Michelle McQuaid and fifth player Rebecca Jean MacDonald, will look for its first win against Quebec’s Eve Bélisle (1-2) on Monday at 3:30 p.m., Atlantic Time. It is P.E.I.’s only game on Monday.
