PEI gets 1st win at Scotties: MacPhee rink steals 7 points vs. NS (Journal)

ST. CATHARINES, ONT. – Team P.E.I. stole its way to win number 1 at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The Les Rogers-coached Robyn MacPhee rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex scored seven points without the hammer en route to a 9-4 victory over Nova Scotia’s Mary Mattatall in Tuesday morning’s draw at the Canadian women’s curling championship.

P.E.I., which lost back-to-back 8-7 decisions to Team Canada’s Chelsea Carey and Quebec’s Eve Bélisle on the final shot of its two previous games, will take a 1-4 (won-lost) record into Tuesday afternoon’s draw against British Columbia’s Marla Mallett (0-5).
