Alberta edges Sask. to take Canadian Firefighters title

After finishing round robin play with a 7-2 record, and earning a bye to the final with a win over Nova Scotia in the Page 1 vs. 2 game, Team Alberta, skipped by Aaron Bartling, stole the last end to edge Jeff Gartner’s Saskatchewan rink 5-4 in the final of the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship, hosted by the Southern Ontario Firefighters Curling Association at the Dixie Curling Club in Mississauga Ont. Sask. advanced to the final with a win over the defending champs, Nova Scotia, skipped by Chad Stevens out of the Chester FD, in the semi. The 2018 championship will take place March 29 to April 7, 2018 at the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay, ON.

Team Alberta

Team PEI, from the Crossroads Fire Department, skipped by Jerry Hughes, won their opener in the event, but did not manage to pick up another win.
