PEI’s Veronica Smith rink are runners-up at Lady Monctonian after edging MacPhee team in quarter-finals

Two Island rinks were in the playoffs at this weekend’s $9000 15-team Lady Monctonian Invitational Spiel, a World Curling Tour event at Curl Moncton, with PEI’s Veronica Smith rink making it to the final game, but losing 8-1 to the Theresa Breen foursome from Halifax in six ends. Smith got by previously-undefeated Robyn MacPhee and her Island team in an extra end in the quarter-final round, and kept on winning in the semis to advance to the championship match.  The runner-up  Smith rink includes third Jane DiCarlo, second Sabrina Smith, and lead Whitney Young.
