Sunday morning curling wrapup

It’s Brad Gushue, with PEI native Brett Gallant, vs defending champ Niklas Edin in the Grand Slam of Curling Masters final in Lloydminster SK today, after crushing Calgary’s Kevin Koe 7-1 in six ends during Saturday’s semifinals.

In Ottawa, Cornwall’s Lauren Lenentine finished play with a 2-3 win-loss record, after losing her C semi-final match Saturday night in the OVCA Junior Superspiel to Ottawa’s Emma Wallingford. The Liam Marin team from Saint John, with PEI’s Tyler Smith at third stone, also finished at 2-3.

In the Dave Jones cashspiel at the Halifax Mayflower club, Cornwall’s Veronica Smith finished at 1-3 after losing Sat. evening, to Mary Mattatall, who plays Jill Brothers, with PEI native Erin Carmody at third, at 9 am in the quarter-finals. Mary-Anne Arsenault takes on Road to the Roar competitor Theresa Breen in the other quarter. Jennifer Armstrong and Mary Myketyn-Driscoll have already advanced to the noon semis.

In the Lakeshore Junior Women’s Spiel in Lower Sackville NS, Charlottetown’s Annika Kelly rink have 3 wins and only one loss, with their final round robin match going at noon vs Dartmouth’s Emma Bedard team. The final is at 4 pm.
