Sunday morning PEI curling roundup

There will be no repeat win for the Robyn MacPhee rink this weekend at the triple-knockout Royal Lepage OVCA Fall Classic in Kemptville Ont. They started off with two wins,  but lost the A qualifier game 6-2 to Isabela Wrana from Sweden, and the B qualifier 7-3 to Mary-Anne Arsenault of Halifax. MacPhee scored 5 points in the 7th end in a 10-4 win over Erin Morrissey of Ottawa in the C semi-finals, but lost her C qualifier 6-2 to Kristen MacDiarmid of Halifax. The quarter-finals are underway now.

In Saint John at the Thistle-St. Andrews Junior Spiel (Canada Winter Games-age division) the Mitchell Schut team finished in third place in the boys’ division, losing their first two games, but reeling off three consecutive wins including the 3 vs 4 playoff game. Their Cornwall clubmates, Team Sydney Howatt, made it to the girls’ 3 vs 4 match, but ended up in 4th place, after losing a very close game.
