PEI’s Tyler Smith to represent New Brunswick at Canadian Juniors

The Liam Marin rink from Saint John, which includes PEI’s Tyler Smith at third, will be New Brunswick’s Junior Men’s representatives at the the 2018 New Holland Canadian Juniors, operated by Curling Canada, from January 13-21, 2018 at  the Centre municipal de curling de Shawinigan and Aréna Grand-Mère, in Shawinigan, Quebec.

The Marin rink finished play this afternoon at the Papa John’s New Brunswick Junior Men’s provincials at Curl Moncton with a 5-1 win-loss record, winning the first of two possible final games 6-5 over the Coady Lewis team from the host club. The Justine Comeau rink won the Junior Women’s title.

Marin won two of the three modified triple-knockout sections and would have had to be beaten twice by Lewis, so the final game was not necessary. Rounding out the Marin rink are Felipe K. Marin and Dylan MacDonald. Last season, Smith, who is currently attending school in New Brunswick, skipped the winning PEI Junior Men’s team. This year’s PEI Juniors take place Dec. 27-31 at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary.
