Pepsi PEI Jr. Ch’ships could wrap up this evening

The  “C”  finals of the modified triple knockout draw of the Pepsi Provincial Junior Curling Championships go at 6:30 this evening at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary. Two teams, the defending champion Lauren Lenentine junior women’s team from Cornwall, and the Alex MacFadyen junior men’s rink from the Silver Fox in Summerside, have won the first two of the three sections of the draw, and a win by either of them this evening would book their ticket to the 2018 New Holland Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Jan. 21 – 28 in Shawinigan Quebec. Their opponents, the Lauren Ferguson team from Crapaud, Cornwall, and Charlottetown, and the Mitchell Schut foursome from Cornwall would have to win tonight’s game and two championship round games on Saturday at 9:30 and 2, in order to take the provincial title.

Lenentine beat Charlottetown’s Annika Kelly 8-5 while Ferguson got by Cornwall’s Sydney Howatt by the same score this afternoon to advance to the C final. Lenentine beat Ferguson in the A final, and Kelly in the  B, while MacFadyen got by Schut in both the A and B finals. Schut beat Charlottetown’s Chase MacMillan team this morning to advance to the junior men’s C final.

End by end results are available at PEICurling.com. Six junior women’s and four junior men’s teams began play on Wednesday.
