Upcoming PEI Ch’ship deadlines: Stick, Mixed Doubles, Seniors, Mixed

With the Juniors, Scotties and Tankard now complete, curlers are reminded of the following championship deadlines for the rest of the month.

As previously mentioned, entries have closed for  the Masters, while the Canada Games Trials deadline is midnight today (Friday)

Stick

Entry deadline is Tuesday, January 16, for the provincial 2-person Stick Curling Championships, with Open (any combination of men and/or women) and Women’s divisions. The event takes place February 6-8 at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton, with entry fee of $65 per two person team. The top four Open division teams and top two women’s division duos advance to the Maritime Stick Curling Championships, in Nova Scotia in March, while the winners of the Open division also earn the right to participate in the 2018 Canadian Open Stick Curling Championship, April 2-5 at the St. Albert Curling Club in St. Albert Alberta.

Mixed Doubles

Entry deadline is January 19 for the Olympic sport of Mixed Doubles, for 2-person teams of one male and one female, taking place at the Charlottetown Curling Complex Feb. 9-11. This event has no age restrictions. The winning team advances to the 2018 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship from March 29 to April 1 in Leduc Alberta.

Unlike a number of other events, attendance for the provincial winners at the national Mixed Doubles competition is not completely paid for by Curling Canada. Entry deadline is January 19, and entry fee is $190 per team, plus a $42 per player Curling Canada participant fee. Winners advance to the 2018 Everest Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championship,  March 24 to 29 at the Stratford Rotary Complex, a facility that features two ice surfaces — RBC Arena and Molson Arena.
