Team Lenentine still unbeaten at 4-0 at Canadian Juniors

Cornwall PEI’s Lauren Lenentine rink just keeps on winning at the New Holland Juniors in Shawinigan.  A 13-3 win over the Northwest Territories this morning improves their record to 4-0. They have 2 games remaining in the round robin. Tonight they play the other unbeaten (3-0) team in their pool, Ontario, and their final round robin game will be tomorrow afternoon against Newfoundland and Labrador, who had their first loss, to Ontario, last evening by a 10-4 score.  Ontario plays Nunavut (0-3) this afternoon.

In this morning’s match,  NWT stole  a single in the first end, with PEI recovering with a deuce in the second,. A single by NWT tied the game after three ends. PEI took charge at that point, scoring four points in the fourth and stealing triples in five and six, and a single in the seventh. It was handshake time after NWT was kept to a single in the eighth end, for the 13-3 final score.

PEI’s Alex MacFadyen junior men’s team, who picked up their first win, over Nunavut, last evening to improve to 1-2, had the morning off,  but face Alberta (2-1) this afternoon, and  NWT (0-3) this evening. The PEI squad finishes up round robin play against Newfoundland and Labrador (2-2) tomorrow morning. Ontario and Northern Ontario are undefeated in PEI’s pool, while Alberta has only one loss. Team New Brunswick, which includes PEI’s Tyler Smith,  is 2-2 in the other pool.
