Canada Games curling trials begin this evening in Summerside (Guardian)

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – The eight curling rinks vying to be Team Prince Edward Island at the 2019 Canada Games get their initial shot Friday when the first of two trials begins at the Silver Fox Entertainment Centre in Summerside.

The three men’s teams play a double round-robin format, while the five women’s squads compete in a single round-robin format.

Action starts Friday at 6 p.m. and continues Saturday at 9 a.m. A Sunday draw goes at 9 a.m., followed if necessary, by tiebreakers draws at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Two male and two female squads will qualify as the Canada Games training teams and advance to the second trial in November in Cornwall.

The winning teams from Trial 2 advance to the 2019 Canada Games, Feb. 15-March 3, in Red Deer, Alta.
