Obituary

Barbara H. McCurdy (August 02, 1938 – July 10, 2018)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving mother, friend, co-worker, volunteer, Helen Barbara (Barb) McCurdy (nee Renner) on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Delta Hospital. Barb was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 2, 1938 to Edgar Alan Renner and Helen Margaret Renner. Barb is predeceased by husband Alan Cameron McCurdy, brother Bruce Renner (Lorinda), sisters Marda Ridgewell (Barry) and Sharon Renner (Bill Knox). She is survived by her daughters Heather McCurdy (New Westminster, BC); Susan MacDonald (Brian) (West Covehead, PEI); Jennifer McCurdy (Tsawwassen, BC), son Peter McCurdy (Ladner, BC) and granddaughter Lauren Watters (Alex) (Pictou, NS).

Barb will be greatly missed by family and friends, by the members of her bridge group, by the residents of the Ladner float home community, by longtime friends made through the Tunnel Town Curling Club and boatmates at the Point Roberts Marina and most recently by friends of the Tsawwassen Arts Guild. Barb gave freely of her time as a volunteer, holding many roles on various boards and committees, some of which include: President of The Tsawwassen Art Guild; President of the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society, President of the Delta Chamber of Commerce; Board Member of Delta Community Living Society and numerous others.

Barb was a very giving and classy lady and maintained both her stubbornness and sense of humour to the end.

A celebration of Barb’s life will be held at the South Delta Artists Guild (Tsawwassen Long House) on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Barb’s name to the Delta Community Living Society or the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society.
