Jill Brothers and her Halifax team which includes PEI’s Erin Carmody at third,  beat PEI’s Veronica Smith rink by a 5-3 score in this afternoon’s final to win Brothers’ 4th consecutive Dave Jones Cashspiel at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax. A steal of two points in the sixth end gave Brothers the edge in a closely-fought contest. Smith advanced to the final after stealing her way to a 9-0 blanking of the Tanya Hilliard team from Halifax in the semi, and finishing round robin play with a 2-2 win-loss record.

The men’s event was won by Jamie Murphy of Halifax, who also won it in 2016. He edged Scott MacDonald of Kingston Ont. 7-6 in an extra end in the championship game. 16 men’s and 10 women’s teams took part in this year’s event.
