In the Junior Women’s event, it was a battle of Halifax teams, with Team Cally Moore leading 4-3 after six ends in their game against the reigning World Junior Champion Kaitlyn Jones rink of Halifax, which includes PEI’s Lauren Lenentine at third stone. Jones blanked end seven to retain last rock advantage coming home, but gave up a steal of five in the final frame for a 9-3 loss to Moore. In the Junior Men’s final, Graeme Weagle and his host club team had a 4-0 lead after four ends, and held on to win 6-3 over Haligonian Mitchell Cortello.

The PEI teams all finished out of the playoffs, with the junior men’s teams, skipped by Mitchell Schut (Cornwall), Tyler Smith (Ch’town) and Chase MacMillan (Ch’town) each picking up one win in the round robin, while Annika Kelly (Ch’town and Cornwall) picked up two wins on the junior women’s side, with Lauren Ferguson (Cornwall) picking up one victory, and Sydney Howatt (Cornwall), who faced both Forsythe and Jones, going 0-4.

Maritime junior curlers will be back in action this coming weekend, at the annual Fall Fling Junior Cashspiel, which starts Friday at the Silver Fox in Summerside.
