Smith downed the Sarah Fullerton team from the Charlottetown and Silver Fox clubs 7-5 Wednesday night at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton.

It was the end of a very long day for the two teams who played in the opening draw at 9 a.m. and then waited through storm delays before meeting each other in Draw 3 at 9 p.m.

Fullerton went up 2-1 after four ends before Smith rebounded with one in the fifth and a stolen deuce after the break. Fullerton cut the lead to 4-3 in the seventh and then the teams traded deuces over the next two ends, leaving Smith with hammer heading home and clinging to a 6-5 lead.
