The founder of Curl for Cancer, a fundraising effort that started in Charlottetown in 1984 and which has spread to curling clubs around the globe, has died.

Carole Kennedy was a long-time member of the Charlottetown Curling Club (CCC) and a former columnist with The Guardian and The Evening Patriot newspapers. She died suddenly in Florida at age 81.
Kennedy started Curl for Cancer as a memorial tribute to David Matheson, a well-known P.E.I. curler. The event has been held annually since then at the CCC, and marked its 35th anniversary this past November.
“We are sorry to hear of Carole’s passing,” said Lisa Jackson, chairperson of the CCC’s Curl for Cancer committee.
“Carole has been a wonderful source of knowledge and support and she will be truly missed,” said Jackson.
