Curl PEI 5-Rock Rule Discussion

In September of 2017, the World Curling Federation membership voted to change the Free Guard Zone rule as of the 2018-19 season to the five-rock FGZ rule, a change from the four rock rule.  As a member of the WCF, Curling Canada decided to adopt the same rule for its competitions, beginning this season.  With Curling Canada making the change so is Curl PEI, and all their competitions will be using the new 5-rock rule this season.

Teams will continue to evolve their strategies and approaches as the five-rock Free Guard Zone makes its debut in national and international championships this coming season. (Photo, Curling Canada/Michael Burns)

To help our teams, curlers, and coaches prepare for the change we have asked Peter Gallant to lead a discussion on the topic.  The session is open to anyone who is interested in learning more and will take place at the Charlottetown Curling Club at 10 am on Saturday, August 25.  The cost for each participant is $10, which can be paid at the door, but it would be appreciated if you could confirm your attendance via email to Amy at [email protected] by August 23.
