Final Results
The Provincial Novice Curling Championships wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the
Cornwall Curling Club. Sean Clarey from the Montague Curling Club edged Meaghan
Hughes of Charlottetown 5-4 to capture the final in the Rundell Seaman Memorial
15 and Under division. Hughes took singles in the first three ends, but Clarey
came back with a deuce in the fourth to tie it up at the half. Hughes took a
single in end 5, while Clarey had another deuce in the sixth and a single in
the seventh to take the lead. Other members of the winning Clarey rink are Chris
McCormick, Ryan Campbell and Robert Campbell. Other members of the runner-up
Hughes rink are Michelle Mackie, Sinead Dolan, and Mikalia Robinson.
Brett Gallant of the Charlottetown Curling Club, along with team-mates Mitchell O'Shea, Patrick Callbeck, and Beth-Ellen Brown, took the Gary Cudmore Memorial 13 and Under section, with a 7-3 victory over Shane Coyle, Dan Miles, Ryan Bishop, and Tim Rhodenizer of the host Cornwall Club.
On Saturday night, in the Smith Sound/York Point Productions 11 and under section, the team of Matthew Nabuurs, Mark Nabuurs, Johnathan Kennedy, and Luke Richards from the Montague Curling Club defeated the rink of Michael LeBlanc, Sean Noonan, Stuart Wright and Jonah MacDonald from the Charlottetown Curling Club in the championship game.
Sunday Afternoon:
Brett Gallant from the Charlottetown Curling Club, and Shane Coyle from the
host Cornwall Club are playing Sunday afternoon in the finals of the Gary Cudmore
Memorial 13 and under section of the PEI Novice Championships.
On Sunday morning, Coyle eliminated Nick Van Ouwerkerk of the Silver Fox by
an 11-2 score. Gallant knocked off Jessica Pickett of the Fox in the same draw.
At noon, it was Coyle defeating Gallant 8-5 to force the deciding game in this
double-knockout event.
In the Rundell Seaman Memorial 15 and under section, it's Meaghan Hughes of the Charlottetown Curling Club meeting Montague's Sean Clarey rink in the final. This morning, Clarey defeated Jennifer MacKinnon of Charlottetown 10-1, and Hughes downed Charlottetown's Sarah Moore rink 8-3. Clarey then defeated Hughes 6-2 Sunday afternoon to force the final at 3 PM.
Saturday Night:
The Provincial Novice Curling Championships at the Cornwall Curling Club are
down to the final three draws. Saturday night, in the Smith Sound/York Point
Productions 11 and under section, the team of Matthew Nabuurs, Mark Nabuurs,
Johnathan Kennedy, and Luke Richards from the Montague Curling Club defeated
the rink of Michael LeBlanc, Sean Noonan, Stuart Wright and Jonah MacDonald
from the Charlottetown Curling Club in the championship game.
Other action Saturday night was in the Rundell Seaman 15 and Under section,
with Meaghan Hughes from the Charlottetown Club advancing to the finals, with
a win over previously-unbeaten Jennifer MacKinnon, also from Charlottetown.
In other games, Cornwall's Kiri Campbell was eliminated, losing to Montague's
Sean Clarey, while Charlottetown's Sarah Moore eliminated the William Callbeck
rink, also from Charlottetown.
Final draws are Sunday at 9, noon, and 3.
Saturday Evening:
The Provincial Novice Curling Championships are continuing Saturday and Sunday
at the Cornwall Curling Club. The Smith Sound/York Point Productions 11 and
under section wraps up Saturday evening, with Charlottetown's Michael LeBlanc
meeting Matthew Nabuurs of Montague at 7 PM.
LeBlanc upset previously-undefeated Nabuurs earlier on Saturday to force the
deciding game.
In the Gary Cudmore Memorial 13 and under section, Brett Gallant from the Charlottetown
Curling Club is now the only undefeated team, handing Nick Van Ouwerkerk from
the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club his first loss Saturday evening in this
double-knockout event. With this win, Gallant advances to the finals, Sunday
at 3 PM.
Fighting for the other spot in the finals are Van Ouwerkerk, and Silver Fox
clubmate Jessica Pickett, along with Shane Coyle from the host Cornwall Club,
who eliminated Geri-Lyn Ramsey of the Silver Fox Saturday evening in a close
8-7 game.

There are two undefeated teams in the Rundell Seaman 15 and Under section.
Jennifer MacKinnon (2-0) and Meaghan Hughes (3-0), both from the Charlottetown
Curling Club, play each other Saturday at 7 PM.
Still in contention are: Sean Clarey of Montague, William Callbeck and Sarah
Moore from Charlottetown, and Kiri Campbell of Cornwall.
Play wraps up on Sunday, with draws at 9 AM, noon, and 3 PM.
Friday
The first day of curling is complete at the Provincial Novice Curling Championships
at the Cornwall Curling Club.
In the Rundell Seaman Memorial 15 and under section, four teams are undefeated after first day play. Sarah Moore and Jennifer MacKinnon, both of Charlottetown, are at 1 and 0, while Meaghan Hughes of Charlottetown and Kiri Campbell from the host Cornwall Club have two wins and no losses in this double-knockout event.
The Gary Cudmore Memorial 13 and under section has three undefeated teams.
Nick Van Ouwerkerk of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club leads the pack at
2 and 0. Clubmate Geri-Lyn Ramsey is at 1-0, along with Brett Gallant of the
Charlottetown Curling Club.

In the Smith Sound/York Point Productions 11 and under division, Tyler Coyle
of the host Cornwall Curling Club, and Matthew Nabuurs of the Montague Curling
Club share the lead with two wins and no losses each.
