It will be Sarah Rhyno of CFB Halifax vs Andrea Kelly of New Brunswick, and Shawn Adams of Halifax against Ryan Sherrard of Saint John in the 2 pm finals of the Rodd Curling Classic at the Charlottetown Curling Club.
In semi-final women’s play this morning, Rhyno edged the Nancy McConnery rink of the Halifax Mayflower club 4-3, while Kelly, aided by a four point sixth end, beat Newfoundland and Labrador’s Heather Strong foursome by a 6-4 score.
In the men’s section, Adams stole four points in the fourth end to bring his game against Chad Stevens of Chester to a speedy finish and a 7-2 score. Sherrard’s game against Haligonian Jamie Murphy also ended early, with an 8-3 score in six ends, after Sherrard followed a second end triple with a stolen deuce in end three, and another three-pointer in the sixth.
Round robin play wrapped up Saturday, with no tiebreakers required, so the men’s quarter-finals were played Saturday night, with Sherrard stealing three points in the final end to beat PEI’s Rod MacDonald rink by a 7-3 score, and Stevens edging Chris Sutherland of Halifax 8-7.

The winning men’s team will take home $5000, with $3500 going to the runner-up, $2500 to third and fourth place finishers Stevens and Murphy, and $1600 to quarter-finalists MacDonald and Sutherland. The top prize in the women’s section is $3100, with $2100 for second place. Third and fourth place finishers McConnery and Strong will each take home $1250. There is also a payout of $40 per round robin win in the women’s section.
Eighteen men’s, and 12 women’s teams from all four Atlantic provinces took part in this annual event.
