Round robin play wrapped up on Saturday afternoon in the Provincial Senior Mixed Curling Championships, with Donald Clarey of Montague doubling Harry Williams of the host Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club by a 6-3 score, and defending champion Mel Bernard doubling last year’s runner-up Blair Jay rink by an 8-4 score. Both Bernard and Jay are from the Fox. Clarey, Bernard, and Jay all finished round robin play with 3-1 win-loss records. When tie-breaking rules were used, Clarey emerged in first place, and earned a bye to Sunday’s 1 pm final, while Jay and Bernard will face off in a 9 am semi-final, with the winner playing Clarey in the final.
The Williams rink finished at 1-3, while Cornwall’s John DeLuca foursome did not manage to pick up a win in the event.
