Brett Gallant rink improves to 3-2 at CIS/CCA Univ. Ch’ships

With one draw remaining, UPEI’s Brett Gallant rink, which includes Adam Casey,  Anson Carmody, and Alex MacFadyen, still has a chance to qualify for the playoff round at the CIS/CCA University Curling Championships in Edmonton. Alberta and Queens are at the top of their pool with a 4-1 win-loss record, and play each other in that final draw, at 11 Atlantic.  UPEI, who edged Queens 4-3 last night, sit at 3-2, and must win this morning against McGill (2-3) to have a chance to be one of the two teams from the pool to advance to the playoff round. Western, the other 3-2 team, plays Victoria (2-3) this morning. Dalhousie is atop the other pool with a 5-1 record, and have already earned a semi-finals berth.

UPEI’s women’s entry, the Sarah Clow rink, have finished play at 0-5, after losing 8-6 last night, when Dalhousie (1-4) stole two points in the extra end to pull out the win.

The semi-finals go at 4 pm PEI time, with the finals Sunday at 1 pm Atlantic.
