PEI loses pair to slip to 1-3 at Canadian Firefighters

The Gordon MacFadyen rink from the Summerside Fire Department have a 1-3 win-loss record after losing both Monday games at the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship in Regina. They lost their morning game 9-3 to Northern Ontario, who scored a deuce in the ninth and stole a triple in the 10th end. They lost their afternoon encounter with defending champion Brad Gartner from the host Regina Fire Department by a 6-3 score.  Saskatchewan followed a triple in the second end with a stolen single in the third to grab an early lead. Other members of the MacFadyen team are  third Leo Stewart, second Dwayne MacNeil, and lead Jim Arsenault.

PEI plays Alberta and BC on Tuesday. British Columbia, who had the bye this afternoon, remain undefeated, with a 4-0 record. Saskatchewan is next at 4-1, followed by Alberta, Manitoba, and Northern Ontario at 3-2. Round robin play, with draws at 1 and 6 Atlantic time, continues through Thursday, with the final on Saturday afternoon.

PEI, represented by the Gordon MacFadyen rink out from the Summerside Fire Department. had the bye in the first draw on Sunday, and picked up a 9-4 win over Quebec in the second draw to improve to 1-1 at the Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship in Regina. The Island squad, which includes third Leo Stewart, second Dwayne MacNeil, and lead Jim Arsenault lost their Saturday opener 6-5 to Nova Scotia. They face Northern Ontario (2-1) and the defending champion Jeff Gartner rink (2-1) from the host Regina Fire Department on Monday. Gartner lost to Manitoba 8-3 on Sunday. Alberta and BC share the lead with 3-0 records. Play continues through Saturday.
