The men’s Atlantic Challenge was started this year as a co-event for the Sobey’s Slam in New Glasgow, with eight rinks competing.
Nova Scotia’s men’s champions, the Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc team, doubled another Halifax rink, skipped by Shawn Adams, by a 4-2 score in this afternoon’s low-scoring final.
PEI’s Rod MacDonald rink lost their semi-final game to Fitzner-LeBlanc by a 7-5 score this morning MacDonald scored singles in five ends, while Fitzner-LeBlanc scored a four ender and a triple. In the other semi-final, which took place Saturday night, Adams beat Moncton’s Russ Howard 7-3 Saturday night.
The Peter Gallant rink, with Peter’s son Brett throwing 4th stones, lost out in the tiebreaker round, beating Doug MacKenzie of Halifax 7-2, but losing 5-3 to Fitzner-Leblanc.
