In the Atlantic Challenge, the new men’s event at the Sobeys Slam in New Glasgow, PEI’s men’s champion Rod MacDonald is playing Nova Scotia men’s champ Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc in semi-final play, which got underway at 8:30 this morning. Shawn Adams of Halifax defeated Russ Howard of Moncton 7-3 in the other semi-final Saturday night. The final is at 3 pm.
The Peter Gallant rink, with Peter’s son Brett throwing 4th stones, lost out in the tiebreaker round, beating Doug MacKenzie of Halifax 7-2, but losing 5-3 to Fitzner-Leblanc.
