McNamee, the only undefeated team at 5-0, beat Prince Edward Island and British Columbia by identical 8-5 scores to move one game ahead of Ontario and New Brunswick, both 4-1.
Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia are a half-game back at 3-1.
Against Robert Campbell’s P.E.I. rink, McNamee struck late with a score of three in the ninth followed by a steal of a pair in the 10th. Later against Tom Buchy of B.C. (1-3), McNamee used the hammer to score deuces in the first, third and fifth ends to build a 6-3 lead.
Campbell rallied with a 10-5 win over Quebec’s Simon Hebert (0-4) in the afternoon draw.
Other members of the Campbell foursome are Rebecca Jean MacPhee, Robbie Doherty and Jackie Reid.
P.E.I. plays Ontario and New Brunswick today.
