McNamee split his two games Tuesday and is the first team to six wins. After giving up a steal of three in the sixth and losing 8-3 to Quebec’s Simon Hebert (1-4) in the morning draw, McNamee rebounded with a 9-2 victory over Newfoundland and Labrador’s Gary Wensman (1-5) in the afternoon draw. He’s now 6-1 with four round-robin games left on the docket.
Hot on the heels of the hosts are a trio of one-loss teams. New Brunswick’s Charlie Sullivan is at 5-1, while Prince Edward Island’s Robert Campbell and Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming are both 4-1.
Sullivan hung on for a 6-5 win Tuesday morning over Northern Ontario’s Craig Kochan (2-4) and is playing Campbell now in the night draw. Campbell was also a winner in his lone early game, overcoming a 6-3 deficit after seven ends to win 7-6 against Ontario’s Chris Gardner (5-2).
