Camm, Dupont strike gold at club curling nationals (Guardian)

(by Al MacLeod)-One final came down to the last rock while the other was over early at The Dominion national curling club championships Sunday in Charlottetown.

When the dust cleared Saskatchewan’s Darren Camm rink and Alberta’s Nanette Dupont rink stood tall as the champions.

Camm’s foursome of third John Carlos, second Mark Steckler and lead Michael Steckler posted a thrilling 6-5 victory over Ontario’s Chris Van Huyse rink of third Tim March, Pat Janssen and lead Tyler Anderson in the men’s final.

On the women’s side, the final outcome was not as much in doubt.

Dupont’s team of third Lace Dupont, second Shirley Koltuch and lead Valerie Leahy followed a three-point fourth end by stealing a single in the fifth and another three in the sixth to coast to a 9-4 win over Saskatchewan’s Darlene Gillies’ rink of third Colleen Oscar-Swan, second Tracy Heidt and lead Linda Kloschinsky after seven ends.
