Jones takes aim at Colleen’s record (Chronicle-Herald)

Team Canada looking for fourth straight Scotties win
By MONTY MOSHER Sports Reporter

Jennifer Jones can match the other women’s curling great with the same last name when she takes to the ice starting Saturday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown.

Jones and her team of Kaitlyn Lawes, Jill Officer and Dawn Askin are back as Team Canada and will play for a fourth consecutive Canadian women’s title.

Should the Winnipeg foursome prevail in P.E.I., Jones would join Halifax’s Colleen Jones and teammates Kim Kelly, Mary-Anne Arsenault and Nancy Delahunt as the only women’s team with four straight Canadian women’s championships. The Colleen Jones team won their four in a row from 2001-04, picking up a pair of world titles along the way.

Jennifer Jones has four national wins overall, starting with 2005 in St. John’s, N.L., where her in-off for four points to beat Ontario remains one of the game’s legendary shots. Colleen Jones owns the title record at six.
