Going from skip to 3rd has been nice change for Shelly Bradley (Journal)

(by Jason Simmonds)

Sometimes changing positions after many years can be a difficult transition for an athlete.

But not for Shelly Bradley, third stone for P.E.I.’s Suzanne Birt rink at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown from Feb. 19 to 27.

“I threw skip rocks right up until 2005 when I played in the Scotties with Rebecca Jean MacPhee,” explained Bradley (nee Danks). “Rebecca called the game and I threw skip rocks.

“When the team disbanded, Suzanne and I talked about playing together. I knew I would be comfortable throwing third for her, and I knew it would probably be a nice change for me to move to a different position.

“Suzanne and I have been together for the last three years, and I have no problem playing third. I really enjoy the position. It gives me a good blend of strategy and a variety of shots. It’s probably my favourite position.”
