The 2011 Vogue Optical Provincial 55+ Winter Games officially opened Monday at City Hall with the raising of the flag.
The president of the Games society, Frank Morrison, along with Mayor Clifford Lee and a few others were in attendance to kick off the week of games and events.
Host commitee chair Gary Petitpas said he is looking forward to this week’s events.
“We look forward to a very exciting week, with several hundred participants from across the province competing in over 20 events throughout the City of Charlottetown.”
Hockey and stick curling were the two sporting events to kick off the games, with hockey taking place at the CARI rink and curling at the Charlottetown Curling Club.
