PEI 2-2 at Canadian Postal

The 45th Canadian Postal Employees Curling Classic got underway Sunday at New Brunswick’s Mirimichi Curling Club. PEI is again represented by the Bobby Cameron rink, who finished with a 4-7 record last year in Regina.  Other members of the Cameron team are Eldon Kilbride, Mike Bernard, and Regan Kenny.

On Sunday, PEI rink stole singles in ends eight and nine on the way to beating Quebec 9-7 in the afternoon, but lost the evening draw 10-2 to Manitoba, shaking hands early after giving up five points in the sixth end.

On Monday morning, PEI, down 5-0 after two ends, came back to double the Newfoundland/Labrador team in a 14-7 shootout, following a triple in end seven with stolen two and three point ends in eight and nine on the way to the win. In the afternoon, PEI lost 9-3 to Nova Scotia, giving up six points in a disastrous fourth end. Nova Scotia and Alberta lead the standings, with 4-0 win-loss records, followed by Manitoba and BC at 3-1, and New Brunswick at 2-1. PEI, Ontario, and Northern Ont. are at 2-2.

The Island rink takes on Northern Ontario and Alberta on Tuesday.

The finals go Saturday at 1:30 pm.
